Miss Hanuabada Hanenamo Serah Vani, 21 years old is the 2019 Hiri Hanenamo Queen.
Miss Hanuabada received twenty thousand kina scholarship from Miss Pacific Islands Pageant to any local institute in PNG and was presented to her by Miss PNG 2019.
Miss Serah Vani also received Three Thousand Kina cash prize and trophy, Five Hundred Kina Brian Bell voucher, a CPL make up kit, Trends Beauty pack and Airlines PNG return ticket to any local destination.
The emotional 2019 Hiri Queen says she is humble to be crowned – adding we must preserve our culture as they are our identity.
Motu Koitabu Assembly Chairman Dadi Toka Jnr says their motivation behind organizing such event is all about educating young girls about their cultures and how they can preserve them, as well as lifting the standard of education.
Toka says encouraging contestants to be educated in this platform also encourages young motuan girls growing up to be motivated by education.
Miss Elevala Hanenamo Bonnie Vaihere, 21 years old was crowned Miss Hiri Queen Runner Up, also received Two Thousand Kina cash prize and trophy, Five Hundred Kina Brian Bell voucher, CPL make up kit, Trends Beauty pack and Airlines PNG return ticket to any local destination.
Miss Elevala Hanenamo Nao Boga, 24 years old was crowned Miss Hetura, also received One Thousand Five Hundred cash prize, Five Hundred Kina Brian Bell voucher, CPL make up kit, Trends Beauty pack and Airlines PNG return ticket to any local destination.
All other contestants received One Thousand Kina each with their tattooist for their participation.
The Hiri Hanenamo Contestants were judged in 3 Categories including Public Interview (Motu & Koitabu Cultural Knowledge), Grooming (Detailed inspection on Traditional Tattoos, Headwear, Rami etc), and Koe (sway).
The crowning was held this afternoon at Era Kone in Port Moresby.
