East New Britain Governor Michael Marum has led a major initiative to restore a monument honouring the Late Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare at his birthplace in Rapindik, East New Britain. The reconstruction is part of broader efforts to promote local tourism and empower small-medium enterprises (SMEs) in the province.
As part of the initiative, Governor Marum launched the construction of a new market facility near Mt. Tavuvur's hotspring, a renowned tourist destination in the Rabaul area. The facility is expected to support local vendors and artisans by giving them greater access to economic opportunities driven by tourism.
