PNG's Crime-ridden Madang is expecting the visit of a big cruise ship to the province this month.
The ship, Maasdam, is operated by Holland America Line and is based in the Netherlands.
It is expected to arrive on the 14th of September, two days before the country's Independence.
This will be her first visit to Madang and preparations are underway to welcome her and her 1,258 passengers and 500 crews.
Most of the tourists on board the vessel are Europeans.
Tour Operator, Melanesian Tourist Services, will be acting as the Excursion agent for the visit.
Sightseeing tours have been arranged including a main cultural event that will take place at the Sugeng Aben Park, outside Madang Resort Hotel.
