PNG Air is pleased to announce our sponsorship of the 2022 Hiri Moale Festival.
The Hiri Moale Festival celebrates the culture of the Motu-Koitabu people, who forged unique connections with other tribes and people through seafaring and trade.
The annual festival will feature canoe races, traditional dances, welcoming of the Lakatoi, SME markets, and the crowning of the Hiri Haenamo Queen.
In that respect, with our hub and core operations being located right here in Port Moresby, on Motu Koita land, we recognise and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, past, present and future.
Our partnership with the Hiri Moale Festival started in 2019, when we donated three airline tickets as prizes to the Hanenamo contestants.
In 2022, PNG Air will sponsor the event with ten free return tickets for two to anywhere on our network of 22 destinations.
Present at the signing of the partnership were PNG Air Chief Commercial Officer, Simon C. Pitt, Motu Koita Assembly Chairman, Hon. Dadi Toka MBE and the ten Hiri Hanenamo contestants.
The Hiri Moale Festival will take place from the 11th to the 13th of February at Era Kone (Ela Beach) and the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium in Port Moresby.
