Papua New Guinea’s national carrier Air Niugini has thrown its support behind Melanesian music by helping artists from across the Pacific travel to this year’s annual Aelan Riddim Music Festival in Honiara.
The festival, scheduled for Saturday, 30 May, will bring together musicians from across the region for a showcase celebrating Pacific and Melanesian music and culture.
As part of its support, the airline assisted with travel arrangements for 10 artists attending the event, reinforcing its role in connecting Pacific communities and supporting regional creative industries.
Among those travelling from Papua New Guinea were Kronos, Danielle and TASIK YARD - PNG, who departed on Air Niugini flight PX80 on Monday for the festival.
Also joining the regional line-up are K U K I and Naomi from Fiji, along with Shazza from Vanuatu. The visiting performers will share the stage with 14 local artists from the Solomon Islands.
Air Niugini said its network continues to strengthen links across the Pacific, operating up to four services each week to Honiara while providing onward connections to destinations across the region.
The airline also encouraged travellers to make use of its passenger services, including prepaid baggage
