Real Tonga expands flight route to Fiji

Real Tonga is expanding its international services, which will include flights between Tonga and Fiji to be launched on Monday 29 July.

The airline will operate between Fua’amotu International Airport in Tonga and Nausori International Airport in Suva, Fiji once a week on Mondays, and expects to expand this service in the near future.

Real Tonga Owner and Chief Executive, Tevita Palu, said this is the first Tongan Airline to operate into Suva, Fiji.

He said this is “a milestone for Tonga and a dream come true” since he started the airline in 2013.

The airline’s expansion into Fiji is to offer Tongans more choice, more flexibility and better fares than are currently available.

“While Samoa is the first of our international routes and Fiji second, the airline’s management team are pursuing possibilities to further extend Real Tonga routes to offer safe, convenient, comfortable and cheaper options to the people of Tonga to other neighbouring countries,” said Tevita.

The operation looks to open up more travel, trade and business opportunities between Tonga and Fiji and further growth opportunities for Tonga’s tourism market. In addition, it will reduce travelling time for those going to and from Suva.

A SAAB 340 will be used for this service and offers up to 25 passenger seats and a full meal service.

Real Tonga currently operates services to Samoa, and domestically. It has joined with Nauru Airlines to operate twice-weekly flights from Tonga to Fiji and New Zealand starting in November this year.
